Guitars are the easiest thing in
the world to improve. A little bit of knowledge and the right parts can
make your cheap Strat copy sound like the real deal. And improving a
guitar is not limited to the low end stuff. A case in
point.........Fender makes Strats ranging in price from about $179.00 to
$2500.00. The first thing I'd do with any of those is change out the
pickups. Fender just doesn't know how to make a great sounding pickup.
Better yet, I'd put in a custom wiring harness which would not only take care
of the pickups, but improve the electronics as a whole and offer a great deal
of versatility with the more advanced tone controls.
Perhaps you've already changed
pickups and just want a little more output or versatility or better
tuning stability. I recommend going to the
Archives section of our web site and reading some of the information there,
especially the Secrets of Hot Rodding article as it
will give you some ideas on the possibilities available to you. Most of
the things you don't like about your guitar can be changed as well as adding
things that you never considered. Click on the buttons to your left to
find out the possibilities.
